The NCC board of principals approved the move Wednesday. The addition of those three schools follows Louisville's acceptance into the conference last summer. The Lions also will join in the fall. The NCC took a proactive approach after Wahoo and Platteview announced last summer that they would be leaving for the newly formed Trailblazer Conference. There is a new conference in Nebraska, and it may start a ripple effect in the landscape of high school activities.
The Beatrice girls basketball team left one more mark in the River Cities Conference. The Rockets entered the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament on a three-game slide, but they left with a plaque. With two more high schools set to open in the Capital City, it might be time to create an all-Lincoln athletic conference. One set out to leave a mark in his senior season, and the other used last season's second-place finish as motivation.

News Conference Guidelines. The North Plaza is available during the warmer months and is closed when temperatures are below freezing or after the first snow of the season, generally mid-October through mid-April. While the North Plaza is closed for winter, the public sidewalk along K Street in front of the Capitol may be used by small groups for rallies. Rally Guidelines. The tower of the Capitol can be illuminated in different colors to draw attention to a cause or celebrate a special occasion by a non-profit or not-for profit or governmental group according to guidelines established by the Office of the Capitol Commission.
